Intro

Have you ever wanted to capture the spectacular beauty of fireworks?

You can learn how to with our special Fireworks Photography Course for the Chinese New Year Fireworks.

This year there are two major Chinese New Year fireworks shows in Perth:

  • Crown Resort, 21 Feb. from 10pm
  • Gloucester Park, 27 Feb. from 10:15pm

We can teach you all the techniques and tricks you need to know to capture great fireworks images that you’ll be proud to show off. We have developed a unique system to teach you how to best capture fireworks with your camera in the comfort of our studio, so that you will be ready to capture great shots immediately once the fireworks starts!

The 2014 Skyworks photography competition winner was a student of this course. You too can learn how to take award-winning fireworks photos.

Course Outline

The Fireworks Photography Course for Chinese New Year Fireworks is comprised of two separate sessions:

  • Session 1 – Fri. 21 Feb. 2015 (2hrs, 10am-12pm) – Teaching session;
  • Session 2 – Sat. 21 Feb. 2015 (Crown Resort fireworks) or Fri. 27 Feb. 2015 (Gloucester Park fireworks)
    – Practical session, both from 9:00pm and along Camfield Drive, Burswood.

Session 1 will be held at our city studio on Fri. 21 February 2015 in the morning. Students will be taught the theory and technical aspects of light painting and fireworks photography. We will discuss how the images featured below and many more were captured, and we will also have a practical simulation of light painting and fireworks for students to shoot using proven techniques.

The simulation will continue with the rest of Session 1 with the instructor guiding students with the various techniques until they can produce satisfactory results and are ready for the Chinese New Year fireworks shows. Session 1 is 2hrs in duration with a short drink and snacks break in the middle.

Session 2 will be on Sat. 21 February 2015 or Fri. 27 February 2015 and is the practical shooting session where you will put into practice what you learn from Session 1. We will reserve an ideal spot on foreshore along Camfield Drive, Burswood, perfect to capture the fireworks show. Book early to secure your spot!

We meet 1 hour prior to the fireworks to set up and run through techniques and tips. The instructor will also be guiding and assisting participants during the fireworks show. Session 2 is 1.5 hrs in duration with refreshments provided.

You can choose to sign up for both Session 1 & 2, or just Session 1. We understand people have their preferences as to where they want to spend the evening for Chinese New Year celebrations with family and friends.
